Crans-Montana: Jacques Moretti remains silent on money laundering during fresh questioning Turin, 2 Nov. (LaPresse) – Jacques Moretti, who is under investigation in connection with the Constellation fire in Crans-Montana, underwent further questioning today in Sion. According to Swiss media reports, the man arrived at the Energypolis campus in a police van, avoiding the cameras and relatives of the victims. Several survivors attended today’s hearing for the first time, as did relatives of the victims of the tragedy – which left 41 dead and 115 injured – accompanied by their lawyers. Jacques Moretti is one of 17 people currently under investigation in connection with the Constellation tragedy. In a letter sent to the public prosecutor’s office in recent days, Moretti’s lawyer, Patrick Michod, stated that his client would not answer questions from the lawyers representing the civil parties regarding any alleged instances of money laundering. Investigators have opened a separate line of inquiry into these alleged offences. The hearing was due to take the form of a direct confrontation between Mr and Mrs Moretti, as had already taken place on 5 June, following previous questioning on 9 and 20 January and 12 February. However, the team of prosecutors decided to postpone Jessica Moretti’s appearance until 2 December due to “a particularly severe state of psychological fragility”.
