Kyiv, Nov. 2 (LaPresse) – “An absolutely terrible Russian attack on the settlement of Komyshuvakha, in the Zaporizhzhia region. Since this morning, the settlement has been hit several times by aerial bombs. The attacks targeted a school being used for humanitarian purposes: people were receiving humanitarian aid there. After the first bombing, there was a second attack involving another nine bombs, specifically targeting the shelter where people had taken refuge. Tragically, 18 casualties have already been reported.” This is what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote in a social media post. “The Russians could not have been unaware that every week the local residents who remain in Komyshuvakha receive humanitarian aid precisely at that location. This is further proof that Russia wants neither de-escalation nor genuine justice,” the Ukrainian leader added. “After the humanitarian operation in Oleshky, there was a moment when subsequent steps could have demonstrated that progress towards peace was possible. With these killings, Russia is sending a completely opposite signal: Russia is counting on further killings. There must be a response to all this – a response from the world. A strong and decisive response. A response to Russia. And support for Ukraine. We must protect human lives.”
