Milan, Nov. 3 (LaPresse) – The Pavia Prosecutor’s Office has requested that Andrea Sempio be committed for trial, accusing him of the murder of Chiara Poggi, which took place in Garlasco on August 13, 2007. “Following an initial altercation,” according to the statement issued by the Prosecutor’s Office, Sempio “repeatedly struck the victim with a blunt object, first in the left frontal region and the right cheekbone area, causing her to fall to the ground. He then dragged her in an attempt to move her towards the door leading to the cellar and, after” Chiara Poggi “tried to react by getting down on all fours, he struck her again with at least 3-4 blows to the left parietotemporal region, the posterior parietal region along the midline, and the left paramedian parietal region, causing her to lose consciousness.” According to the Prosecutor’s Office, headed by Fabio Napoleone, Sempio “pushed the victim’s body, causing it to slide down the stairs leading to the cellar, where, despite her already being unconscious, he struck her with at least 4-5 blows to the left parieto-occipital region”, thereby causing the victim “severe traumatic brain injuries that led to her death”. The charges include “the aggravating circumstance of having acted with cruelty towards the victim, in view of the brutality of the murder, given the number and severity of the wounds inflicted on the victim, including at least 12 injuries to the skull and face”, as well as “having committed the crime for abject motives, attributable to hatred towards the victim following her rejection of his advances”.
