Turin, 4 Nov. (LaPresse) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has awarded US First Lady Melania Trump the country’s highest honour for women. The Order of Princess Olha, First Class, was awarded to Melania Trump for her “significant personal contribution to humanitarian support for Ukraine”, according to the presidential decree. The decision comes following the end of the ceasefire in the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson, which had enabled the evacuation of several hundred people from the town of Oleshky, occupied by Russian forces. Among the reasons cited in Zelensky’s decree for awarding the honour is Melania Trump’s broader humanitarian commitment, including her efforts on behalf of Ukrainian children affected by the war.
