Genoa, 4 Nov. (LaPresse) – “Important news: yesterday my ex was arrested to ensure our safety until the court cases are concluded.” This was stated on her social media channels by Nessy Guerra, the 27-year-old from Sanremo who has been stranded in Egypt for three years, where she was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment on charges of alleged adultery brought by her ex-husband. Just a month ago, the woman – who has been confined to her home since last summer in a form of pre-trial detention whilst awaiting the ruling of the Egyptian Court of Cassation – had reported new threats from the man, who had called for her to be publicly stoned. “I am so very grateful to our embassy,” writes Guerra in an Instagram post, “and above all, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the Egyptian Minister of Justice and the Egyptian authorities for ensuring our safety and protection at such a delicate time.”
