Rome, 6 Nov. (LaPresse) – “The very same government majority that, at national level, is blocking our citizens’ initiative bill on legal euthanasia in Parliament is then appealing against those regional laws that organise medical assistance in voluntary dying, which fall within the full remit of the regions. We are certain that the Constitutional Court will uphold these laws once again, in response to the government’s appeal against our law in the Veneto Region.” So said Marco Cappato, treasurer of the Luca Coscioni Association, commenting on the Government’s appeal against the Veneto regional law on end-of-life care, which arose from the ‘Liberi Subito’ citizens’ initiative campaign, promoted by the Luca Coscioni Association and subsequently amended and approved by the Regional Council.
