Turin, 7 Nov. (LaPresse) – The US government believes that Nvidia’s chief executive, Jensen Huang, had a romantic relationship with a Chinese woman who is alleged to have been recruited to carry out espionage on behalf of Beijing’s main intelligence service. This is reported by the Financial Times, citing people with knowledge of the matter. According to the sources, earlier this year, US officials drafted a memorandum, based on information gathered by US intelligence, which stated that Huang had been in a romantic relationship with Alice Huang, an executive at Megaspeed, a client of the US-based semiconductor group headquartered in Singapore. US intelligence also believes that Alice Huang was recruited as a spy by China’s Ministry of State Security, Beijing’s main intelligence service. The memorandum is said to have been shared with a small group of senior US administration officials shortly before President Donald Trump’s visit to Beijing for the summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Nvidia has declined to comment on the matter. Previously, the company had stated that its chief executive meets “thousands of executives from client companies every year”.
