Rome, 7 Nov. (LaPresse) – “We cannot turn a blind eye when we know that in Uruguay there are children who do not go to school for fear of never returning. We cannot silence our conscience when we see that a mother does not have the means to feed her children. We cannot ignore the fact that there are many people around us who are suffering, who are alone and vulnerable. A child of this country, so rich in resources, should not go to bed without having eaten, nor should they be denied a decent education and a dignified future because of the insecurity that reigns in the streets. Nor, least of all, should they suffer violence to the point of losing their lives.” These were the words of Pope Leo XIV during his visit to the community of Casavalle at the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Montevideo.
