Turin, 8 Nov. (LaPresse) – Yashar leader Gadi Eisenkot and Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Liberman are expected to meet tomorrow, following a meeting between the two parties’ negotiating teams last Friday. Ynet reports this, emphasising that the backdrop to the meeting is characterised by Liberman’s repeated statements regarding his opposition to a minority government relying on Arab parties. The meeting had been scheduled several days ago. This evening, Eisenkot will meet with Beyachad leader Naftali Bennett. The latter has, however, expressed a willingness to negotiate with the ultra-Orthodox parties, breaking with his long-standing opposition to any collaboration with them, and has hinted that some Likud MPs might leave Netanyahu’s bloc. The apparent U-turn on the issue of the ultra-Orthodox, the Times of Israel notes, has drawn criticism and fuelled accusations that the leader of Yisrael Beytenu is obstructing Eisenkot’s efforts for personal gain, with a view to becoming prime minister. An accusation that Liberman rejects.
