Cycling, Dutchman Demi Vollering wins Strade Bianche Women

Milan, March 8 (LaPresse) – Demi Vollering (FDJ-Suez) won the eleventh edition of the Strade Bianche Women Elite Crédit Agricole. On the final finish line in the iconic Piazza del Campo, she preceded Anna Van der Breggen (Team SD Worx – Protime) and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot (Team Visma | Lease a Bike).A few seconds after crossing the line, the winner Demi Vollering said: ‘I'm very happy. I knew I was in good shape, but winning is something else. When you are under pressure, you really want to do everything for your teammates, family and friends who support you. It's fun racing against Anna [van der Breggen]. It feels like the old days when I started. It reminds me of how much I've grown over the years. I was behind quite a big gap, but my teammates always pulled for me, so I never thought it was over. Juliette [Labous] was crucial on the gravel roads. My chain fell off, but I took off again at full speed. It was smart to attack on the descent and the final battle with Anna was fantastic.
