Michigan City (Indiana, USA), 20 May (LaPresse/AP) – Benjamin Ritchie, 45, was executed today in the state of Indiana for the 2000 murder of police officer Bill Toney. The man was killed by lethal injection in what was the second execution in Indiana in 15 years. Ritchie, who was found guilty in 2002, died in the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City. Earlier this month, he told the parole board that he had changed during his more than 20 years behind bars. He apologised for his actions, which led to the killing of the 31-year-old father of two children. ‘I ruined my life and other people's lives, and I'm so sorry for that night,’ he said. ‘If I could go back, I would shake that boy, because he wasn't listening to anyone. But I can't take back what I did.’
