Milan, 10 Mar (LaPresse) – In January, industrial producer prices increased by 1.6% on a monthly basis and 4.4% on a yearly basis (it was +1.1% in December). This was reported by Istat. On the domestic market, prices grew by 2.0% compared to December 2024 and by 6.0% year-on-year (from +1.3% in the previous month). Net of the energy sector, prices recorded a modest cyclical increase (+0.2%) and a much smaller tendential growth (+0.8%; it was +0.5% in December). On the foreign market, prices increased by 0.4% on a monthly basis (+0.4% euro area, +0.3% non-euro area) and by 1.0% on an annual basis (+0.9% euro area, +1.1% non-euro area). In the quarter November 2024-January 2025, compared to the previous quarter, industrial producer prices grew by 2.5% (+3.4% domestic market, +0.4% foreign market). In January 2025, among manufacturing activities, the highest year-on-year increases were in basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (+2.5%) and other manufacturing, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (+2.2%), on the domestic market, and coke and refined petroleum products (+6.7% euro area, +5.6% non-euro area) and wood, paper and printing industry (+7.0% euro area), on the foreign market. Trend decreases were recorded for a limited number of sectors, the largest for rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic mineral products (-1.5% euro area) and basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (-1.5% non-euro area). On the domestic market, year-on-year growth in electricity and gas supply prices accelerated sharply (+18.1%, from +3.6% in December 2024).
