Middle East: 'Death to Arabs,' Israeli nationalist march in Jerusalem

Milan, May 26 (LaPresse/AP) – Chanting "death to Arabs" and "may your village burn," groups of young Israeli nationalists marched through the Muslim quarters of Jerusalem’s Old City ahead of the annual march commemorating Israel’s capture of East Jerusalem in 1967, known as "Jerusalem Day." Meanwhile, a small group of protesters, including a parliamentarian, stormed a UNRWA complex in East Jerusalem. Tourist buses carrying young ultra-nationalist Jews arrived near the entrances to the Old City, bringing hundreds of people from outside Jerusalem, including settlements in Israeli-occupied West Bank. “This is our home, this is our state,” shouted one protester at a Palestinian woman. “Go away from here,” she replied in Hebrew. During last year’s march, in the first year of the Gaza war, Israeli ultra-nationalists attacked a Palestinian journalist in the Old City, calling for violence against Palestinians. Four years ago, the march helped spark an 11-day war in Gaza.
