Workplace accidents, Inail: “In the first two months of 2025, deaths up by 6.6% year-on-year”

Rome, April 4 (LaPresse) – In the first two months of 2025, work-related deaths increased by 6.6%, while workplace injuries dropped by 5.2% compared to 2024. This is according to Inail data on workplace accident and occupational disease reports for February.

In the first two months of the year, compared to the previous year, Inail recorded fewer injury reports (-2.1%) and a rise in fatal cases (+33.3%) during home-to-work commutes.

Reported occupational diseases increased by 5.8%, totaling 14,917 cases.

Considering labor market data collected monthly by Istat over the years — with the latest update from February 2025 — and comparing the number of reported workplace accidents (excluding students) with the number of employed persons (provisional data), the accident incidence rate dropped from 309 reports per 100,000 Istat workers in February 2019 to 253 in 2025, marking an 18.1% decrease.

Compared to February 2024, the drop is 7.4% (from 274 to 253).
