Strait Bridge: Court of Auditors denies legitimacy to Cipess resolution

Rome, 29 October (LaPresse) – Another “technical” halt has been called on the construction of the Messina Strait Bridge. The Court of Auditors has rejected the legitimacy of CIPESS resolution no. 41/2025 concerning the final design of the permanent link between Sicily and Calabria. The decision was taken by the Central Section for the Control of Legitimacy of Government and State Administration Acts, at the end of the Council Chamber meeting following the meeting of 29 October 2025. The resolution, approved by CIPESS on 6 August, provided for the allocation of resources from the Development and Cohesion Fund and the approval of the final project pursuant to Decree-Law No. 35 of 2023. The reasons for the rejection are not yet known and will be communicated within 30 days.
