Rome, Nov. 3 (LaPresse) – “The German rail market has been completely open to competition since the rail reform. The German government is actively working at the European level to remove the remaining barriers to market access and competition in long-distance passenger rail transport across Europe,” a spokesperson for the German Ministry of Transport told LaPresse, commenting on the possible expansion of Ferrovie dello Stato’s high-speed train operations in Germany. “Anything that promotes competition is welcome, both from the customer’s perspective and from that of the Federal Ministry of Transport – this also applies to the announcement by Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane to launch long-distance services in Germany,” the spokesperson added.
