Former Ilva, commissioners: ‘No increase in Cig, proposal to train 1,550 workers’

Rome, 19 November. (LaPresse) – ‘As announced during yesterday’s meeting at Palazzo Chigi, attended by the Commissioners and government representatives, there are no plans to increase the number of workers on temporary layoff from the current 4,450. Any claims regarding an extension of the temporary layoff scheme to an additional 1,550 workers are unfounded.’ This was stated in a note by the Special Commissioners of Acciaierie d’Italia, adding that ‘the position was reiterated several times during the meeting and reported in the official statement released yesterday by Palazzo Chigi, which confirms that “there will be no further extension of the redundancy fund, thus accepting the main request made by the trade unions themselves during the previous round of talks”.’
