Milan, Nov. 29 (LaPresse) – “We have painstakingly followed a path that, starting from a very, very high level of debt, has the ambition of reaching 3% this year. We don’t know whether we’ll end up a bit below or a bit above; we hope a bit below, because that would allow us to exit the infringement procedure a year earlier than expected. It depends on a range of factors in the last month—expenses, revenues, economic growth. We’ll see, and then place ourselves on a sustainable trajectory.”
This was stated by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti, speaking via video link at the Noi Moderati assembly.
“The balanced, prudent, and responsible approach we have adopted over these three years stems not only from a cultural or political attitude, if you will, but also from a state of necessity,” he added.
