Budget, Orsini: ‘We have been heard, but EU industry is under attack’

Milan, 24 December (LaPresse) – ‘We cannot say that industry has not been heard. We had asked for £8 billion a year for three years. The government has understood that Italy’s future also depends on the recovery of industry, and the allocations for the three-year period have reached over £15 billion.’ This is what Emanuele Orsini, president of Confindustria, told Corriere della Sera about the budget. He continued: “The resources for hyper-amortisation and Zes Unica are essential for reviving investment. Industrial policy has regained its rightful place in the political debate. The real issue, however, is the serious concern arising from the greatest danger: the deindustrialisation of our country and Europe. Italian and European industry are under attack. On the one hand, China is flooding the entire continent with low-cost products. On the other, Trump is doing everything he can to attract our companies. We need a plan. We have already shared it with the government. We have called it Rilancio Italia (Relaunch Italy), and it will serve to implement coordinated action on several fronts in the medium term.”
