Motorways, Art: ‘Toll adjustments in compliance with the Constitutional Court ruling’

Milan, 5 January (LaPresse) – In relation to reports appearing in various newspapers in recent days concerning motorway toll increases, ART ‘specifies that these adjustments have been adopted in compliance with Constitutional Court ruling no. 147 of 2025’. The ruling ‘requires that tolls relating to motorway concessions with an Economic and Financial Plan (PEF) that has expired or is being updated be adjusted to the planned inflation rate,’ explains ART. ‘It is important to emphasise that the increases applied – reads a note – limited exclusively to the inflationary component, are in no way attributable to the regulatory measures introduced by the Authority, whose effects, on the motorway sections where they have already been adopted in the relevant PEFs, translate on average, in the last annual adjustment, into substantial reductions in costs for users’. Finally, the Authority ‘emphasises the significant scope of the measures adopted’ by the Authority itself ‘on motorway tolls in recent weeks, the determination of which will be based on the investments actually made, introducing, among other things, criteria for improving the quality of the service offered to users’.
