Energy Bill Decree, Pichetto Fratin: “Over 5 billion in 2 years”

Milan, Feb. 19 (LaPresse) – “The press writes about 3 billion and 5 billion, but it is actually over 5 billion in two years and 3 billion in 2026. We focus on 2026, that is the figure,” said the Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, speaking to Radio Anch’io on Rai Radio 1, clarifying the figures of the Energy Bill Decree approved yesterday by the Council of Ministers. “Regarding this measure, there are those who pay, saying they pay too much, and those who receive, saying it is too little. This is the harsh reality of a regulated system and the need to maintain a balance according to available resources,” the minister added. “Vulnerable households, which are 2.7 million families, will benefit from over 50% reduction in their bills based on our data on these families’ consumption, totaling 200 plus 115 plus a few euros due to the overall reduction in energy prices,” he emphasized. “Clearly, if prices go down, all profit margins for producers decrease. It is about finding a balance.” The “decoupling” of electricity prices from gas prices “is a European issue because it is an overall mechanism. We must achieve it in practice. When we also provide a platform where producers can meet companies and engage externally, in this case it is a form of decoupling,” Pichetto Fratin concluded.
