Iran, Pichetto: ‘Towards an energy solidarity quota of 400 million barrels’

Rome, 11 March (LaPresse) – ‘Today we are finalising the calculation of the amount of a common solidarity quota, which should be around 400 million barrels equivalent’ of oil. This was stated by the Minister for the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, in response to a question during question time in the Chamber of Deputies. ‘At the extraordinary G7 Energy meeting convened yesterday in Paris,’ Pichetto recalled, ‘we examined the international situation and the difficulties arising from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. This led to a commitment by countries to mutual solidarity, using storage facilities to compensate for the global shortage.’
