Rome, 5 May (LaPresse) – Gas bills fell by 7.6% in April 2026. This was announced by ARERA, the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Water and Waste. Following the increase recorded in March – explains ARERA – wholesale prices for April are ‘falling significantly and the total expenditure for the typical user is down by 7.6% compared to the previous month, whilst if we look solely at the gas price component covering supply costs, the reduction compared to the March update is 11.7%. For the 2.3 million customers still in the Vulnerability Protection Scheme, the price of the gas raw material alone is €46.01 per megawatt-hour. The gas price component covering supply costs – applied only to customers in the Vulnerability Protection Scheme – is updated by ARERA as the monthly average of the price on the Italian wholesale market and published within the first two working days of the month following the reference month.
