Rome, 1 July (LaPresse) – Assaeroporti and Aeroporti 2030 “express their full support for the initiative launched by ACI EUROPE and the main European air transport associations, which have appealed to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to adopt, as a matter of the utmost urgency, measures to allow for flexibility and, if necessary, a temporary suspension of the implementation of the new European Entry-Exit System (EES) during the summer months, which are characterised by high levels of passenger traffic”. This is stated in a press release. Italian airports “recognise the strategic role of the EES; however, experience to date with the system has confirmed the concerns long expressed by the sector. Significant issues have in fact emerged, with waiting times at border controls that are incompatible with the smooth management of passenger flows, which risk compromising airport operations and the quality of service”.
