Milan, 3 July (LaPresse) – “In May 2026, compared with the previous month, retail sales showed a modest increase in both value and volume, with identical trends across the two main product sectors, food and non-food: this is according to Istat, which recorded a ‘slight increase’ of +0.2 per cent in value and +0.1 per cent in volume. “On a year-on-year basis, growth in value was seen across both sectors, whilst volume increased only in the non-food sector”: year-on-year growth stood at 2.2 per cent in value and 0.4 per cent in volume.
