Milan, July 16 (LaPresse) — In June 2026, the national consumer price index for the entire population (NIC), excluding tobacco, showed no month-over-month change and a year-over-year increase of +3.0% (down from +3.2% in May), according to Istat, which confirmed the preliminary estimate. The slight slowdown in inflation reflects price trends for unprocessed food (from +5.5% to +4.4%), recreational, cultural, and personal care services (from +3.0% to +2.7%), and transportation services (from +1.7% to +1.1%); by contrast, prices for energy—both regulated (from +5.6% to +9.2%) and unregulated (from +12.5% to +13.3%)—are accelerating.
