Rome, 27 July (LaPresse) – The CGIL trade union today lodged a complaint with the Court of Auditors, requesting an investigation into whether, “in the management of the Messina Strait Bridge project, public funds were used correctly or whether, on the contrary, there are grounds to suspect financial loss to the public purse”. The trade union announced this, adding that the complaint, signed by General Secretary Maurizio Landini and submitted to the regional public prosecutors’ offices of the Court of Auditors in Sicily and Lazio and to the Attorney General’s Office at the Judicial Appeals Section of the Court of Auditors for the Region of Sicily, “stems from a very simple principle: when billions of euros of taxpayers’ money are at stake, it is our duty to demand transparency, legality and the rigorous use of public resources”.
