New York, 28 July (LaPresse/AP) – Johnson & Johnson has agreed to pay $5.5 billion to settle the remaining legal cases alleging that its talc-based products may cause ovarian cancer. The pharmaceutical company, which has been dealing with legal cases on this issue for years, stated in a press release that the settlement is subject to the participation of at least 95 per cent of the remaining claimants. The company will make an initial payment of no more than $3 billion next year. No further payments are due until 2028.
