Rome, Aug. 18 (LaPresse) – “Some potential measures that meet the requirements and areas of intervention indicated by the European Commission have already been identified. The necessary in-depth assessments are underway on the technical aspects and the eligibility of the individual measures, also with regard to public finance considerations, so as to be able to fully assess the opportunities offered by the new energy clause,” said Minister of the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto, commenting on the operational guidelines published by the European Commission. “I also consider it important that the European Commission has explicitly included nuclear investments among those that may fall within the scope of eligible measures. This is a significant recognition of the relevance that nuclear power can have in strengthening the security and resilience of the European energy system and in the energy transition process. Italy is working to seize, with pragmatism and responsibility, all the opportunities that this new European framework can offer,” he concluded.
