Rome, 23 August (LaPresse) – “With the forthcoming budget bill, we intend to reduce personal income tax (IRPEF) for incomes up to 60,000 euros. This should provide some breathing space for workers’ purchasing power, but I believe businesses can also do their bit in this regard.” This was stated by Claudio Durigon, Under-Secretary of State for Labour, in an interview with Sussidiario.net; he is one of today’s guests at the Rimini Meeting. Furthermore, with regard to the budget, “I believe it would be important to maintain the measures already adopted in recent years, in particular the tax exemption on pay rises resulting from contract renewals. If possible, we will increase incentives for workplace welfare schemes, which in some cases amount to an additional wage, and we will seek to improve business efficiency, including through greater flexibility regarding retirement: I think it is unacceptable to have to work until the age of 67 at a time when we are talking about the implementation of artificial intelligence in businesses.”
