(LaPresse) – “I think it’s time to take to the streets, and I’d like to take this opportunity to tell everyone that on 17 October, it’s time for us to have our say again, because upholding the Constitution means raising wages, it means saying no to job insecurity, it means making the public health service work, it means guaranteeing the right to education, and above all, it means upholding what we might call fair social justice, which also starts with a proper tax system.” So said Maurizio Landini, speaking on the sidelines of an event in Palermo. “It cannot be that it is employees and pensioners who pay taxes, whilst in reality concessions are made to investment income and profits, and tax evasion is encouraged. I believe the time has come for people to speak out again and take to the streets to say ‘enough is enough’ and to change this situation,” concluded the general secretary of the CGIL.
