Milan, 30 Sep. (LaPresse) – “This is a massacre, it is no longer bearable and acceptable because it is the model of doing business based on contracting, subcontracting, the logic of exploitation that kills. It’s time to put an end to this operation by preventing and changing those foolish laws that are allowing this level of exploitation”. Secretary Maurizio Landini, on the sidelines of the CGIL’s 120th anniversary celebrations at La Scala, responded to questions about the two workers who died on the job in the provinces of Milan and Ancona. “We are talking about people who very often work in contracted, subcontracted companies – Landini continued – it is this model of doing business that must be stopped. This is a model of doing business that kills because it considers that even if you die you find someone else who goes in its place. Death is considered a cost of this system, it is no longer acceptable, enough. We need to block this and invest seriously in training and prevention. It’s time to hire labor inspectors, to do those things they’re not doing”.
