Milan, 13 Oct. (LaPresse) – Inflation trends vary significantly across different product categories: the overall rise in the Consumer Price Index, amounting to 63 per cent between 2000 and 2025, is the result of increases of over 100 per cent for the housing and utilities category (driven by expenditure on electricity and fuel), for alcoholic drinks and tobacco, and for financial and insurance services, whilst increases of less than 30 per cent were seen for education and healthcare services, alongside a fall of nearly 60 per cent in the cost of information and communication goods and services; for non-energy industrial goods as a whole, the increase in prices between 2000 and 2025 was just over 25 per cent. This is evident from ‘Storie di dati’, a report on the trend in inflation over time, published by Istat to mark the centenary of the statistical institute.
