Rome, Oct. 17 (LaPresse) – “From what we have seen so far, it seems pretty awful to me, because it is not providing the answers that need to be given.” This was stated by CGIL secretary Maurizio Landini, speaking about the Budget Bill from the march taking place in Rome. “The only thing I clearly understand in the Budget Law is that 14 billion will be spent on weapons. That is not what we need,” Landini observed. “We need the opposite: security does not mean arming ourselves, security means making things work, having a welfare state, having jobs. That is the kind of security we want,” the CGIL leader added. “We are taking to the streets because people cannot take it anymore. Wages need to be increased, schools need to function properly. There is a need to address the rising cost of living. There is a demand for participation and change that is also coming from younger generations. We believe that the government and Parliament must learn to listen. They must give a voice to and listen to those who keep the country going with their intelligence and their work,” Landini added.
