Frankfurt (Germany), 30 Oct. (LaPresse) – Audi narrowly avoided posting a loss for the third quarter, reporting a net profit of just 95 million euros, down 87 per cent on the same period last year. In the first nine months of the year, turnover fell by over 6 billion to 42 billion euros, whilst operating profit dropped from 1.56 to 1.15 billion, with an operating margin of 2.7 per cent. For the second time this year, the Ingolstadt-based group has revised its forecasts for 2026 downwards: it now estimates an operating margin on sales of between 3 per cent and 5 per cent, compared with the previous 5–7 per cent, and revenue of between 55 and 59 billion, down from the 58–63 billion indicated in July. The main factors weighing on the figures are the contraction of the Chinese market – particularly for models with internal combustion engines – alongside US tariffs. Unlike BMW and Mercedes, Audi does not currently have any production facilities in the United States: Donald Trump’s tariffs have cost the group around 1.2 billion euros. In the third quarter, global deliveries fell by 19.7 per cent.
