Music, new Lady Gaga album 'Mayhem' set for release: "Reassembled a shattered mirror"

Rome, March 7 (LaPresse) – "The album was born from my fear of returning to the pop music that my early fans loved." This is how Lady Gaga introduced her seventh album, Mayhem, which is being released worldwide today. Far from being a nostalgic comeback, Mayhem reinvents her original sound with a kaleidoscopic approach that draws from her vast repertoire while embracing a fresh and fearless artistic perspective. Gaga described the creative process as “reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own way.” In an interview, she also stated that making Mayhem was a journey of rediscovery: "The chaos I thought had long disappeared is still completely intact and ready to welcome me whenever I want. Part of the message in the album’s first song is that your demons are with you at the beginning and at the end, and I don’t mean that in a negative way. Maybe we can make peace with this reality instead of always running away."

The project, consisting of 14 tracks, includes the previously released songs Disease and Die With a Smile featuring Bruno Mars. It was produced by Gaga, Michael Polansky, and Andrew Watt, with additional production from Cirkut and Gesaffelstein. The album rollout began last year with the massive hit Die With a Smile, featuring Bruno Mars, which has spent over 100 days at No. 1 on Spotify’s global chart. The single has also topped the US Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks and has become one of Gaga’s biggest hits, selling over 2 million copies in the US alone and accumulating more than 2.7 billion streams worldwide. In Italy, the single has been certified Platinum. Mayhem is available for pre-order in physical format on Universal Music Italia’s shop in the following versions: standard CD, black double LP, and an exclusive edition in CD and matte silver double vinyl.
