Los Angeles (California, USA), June 11 (LaPresse) – The music world is in mourning. Brian Wilson, leader of the Beach Boys, has died at the age of 82. The announcement was made by his family through the musician and composer’s official website and social media accounts. Wilson is regarded as one of the greatest artists in music history, having profoundly influenced pop and rock music in the 20th century.
Among the many hits by the Beach Boys are Good Vibrations, California Girls, and Surfin' USA—iconic songs that helped transform the group from a local California band into global hitmakers. The Beach Boys have sold over 100 million records, placing more than 30 singles in the worldwide Top 40 charts.
Their 1966 album Pet Sounds was ranked second in Rolling Stone’s 2003 list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, just behind the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
