Pearl Jam, drummer Matt Cameron leaves the band after 27 years

Turin, July 7 (LaPresse) – Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron has unexpectedly left the band after 27 years. “After 27 amazing years, I’ve taken my final steps on the drum riser of the legendary Pearl Jam. I have deep love and respect for Jeff, Ed, Mike, and Stone for inviting me into the band in 1998 and for giving me the opportunity to live a life full of friendship, artistic talent, challenges, and laughter. I will be eternally grateful to the band, the crew, and fans around the world,” wrote the 62-year-old musician in a message posted on social media. “It’s been an incredible journey. More updates to come. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.” The Seattle grunge rock band also stated in a social media release that Cameron “was a unique and authentically powerful musician and drummer. He was a profoundly important chapter in our band; we wish him all the best. We will miss him deeply, and he will forever be our friend in art and music. We love you, Matt.”
