Milan, 22 Nov. (LaPresse) – Ornella Vanoni was ‘full of energy, as you are saying, she was a free woman, independent, mentally free, physically free, free from all stereotypes, very strong and very ironic, very funny. I was lucky enough to know her because one of her great songwriters was Sergio Bardotti, who wrote my programmes for a long time, so Ornella would come along to see Sergio. I also think of all the songs they re-released, including from the world of Brazilian music, together with Bruno Lauzi and many others, the songs of Roberto Carlos, etc. She was a woman who always brought energy, friendliness, and her art, which was magnificent and immense. And precisely because of what she represents, also for Italian music, I was supposed to announce the names of the big names at Sanremo tomorrow, but I thought it would be more appropriate to postpone this announcement until next week and in some way respect Ornella’s greatness by leaving space only for her and not filling the pages of newspapers or television news with the list of the big names at Sanremo’. This is Carlo Conti’s tribute to Ornella Vanoni, broadcast on Rai1’s “Ciao maschio” programme.
