Cinema: record debut for Checco Zalone, with box office takings of €5.6 million for “Buen Camino”

Milan, 26 December (LaPresse) – A very positive debut at the box office for “Buen Camino”, the new comedy starring Checco Zalone and directed by Gennaro Nunziante, which on Christmas Day drove the Italian film market and brought it back to levels not seen since 2011. On its first day of release, yesterday, Thursday 25 December, the film distributed by Medusa Film grossed €5,671,922, with an average of €7,744 per copy and a 78.8% share of the total box office takings, equal to €7,195,899. It had been 14 years since the film market had exceeded €7 million in total box office takings on Christmas Day. Another particularly significant factor is the even distribution of audiences across the country: the success of “Buen Camino” has involved all regions, from north to south, without an exclusive concentration in the areas traditionally strongest for Checco Zalone, such as southern Italy or his native Puglia. Zalone also set a personal record: in 2016, “Quo Vado”, released on 1 January, captured 65.6% of the total market, and in 2020, “Tolo Tolo”, also released on 1 January, captured 75.7%. “Buen Camino” is produced by Marco Cohen, Benedetto Habib, Fabrizio Donvito and Daniel Campos Pavoncelli and is an Indiana Production with Medusa Film in collaboration with MZL and Netflix, produced by Indiana Production, a Vuelta company.
