Cinema: Brigitte Bardot’s funeral today in Saint-Tropez

Paris (France), 7 January (LaPresse) – The funeral of actress Brigitte Bardot, who died on 28 December at the age of 91, will be held today in Saint-Tropez. The ceremony will be held at the Catholic church of Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption and will be broadcast on big screens at the port and in two squares in the city, so that residents and admirers can follow it. Bardot will then be buried privately in a cemetery overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The ceremony, scheduled for 11 a.m., will be attended by guests invited by the family and the Brigitte Bardot Foundation for the Protection of Animals. Bardot had long considered Saint-Tropez her refuge from the celebrity that had once made her famous. The actress settled decades ago in her seaside villa, La Madrague, and retired from cinema in 1973 at the age of 39, after an international career that spanned more than 20 films.
