Signorini, Mediaset and Mfe case: ‘Civil lawsuit for 160 million against Corona’

Rome, 5 February (LaPresse) – “The information disseminated by the Falsissimo project and Fabrizio Corona, through unprecedented verbal violence, constitutes a series of lies, falsehoods and insinuations without any foundation and with no respect for the individuals, their families and the entities involved. For these reasons, the individuals affected, together with Mediaset and Mfe – Mediaforeurope, have decided to bring civil actions for damages, for a total amount of €160 million, against Fabrizio Corona and the companies associated with him, for reputational and financial damages. The Group also reserves the right to take action against anyone who, in various ways, knowingly encourages, amplifies or disseminates such content’. Mediaset announced this in a statement. ‘This is not gossip or rumour. It is an organised and systematic mechanism in which lies become a means of profit. Corona is making thousands of euros every week from this hate campaign,’ Mediaset emphasises. Mediaset and Mfe will take action in every forum to combat this mechanism. It can affect anyone, from well-known figures to ordinary citizens. With one substantial difference: while a large group like ours can afford adequate protection tools, many people do not have the financial resources to defend themselves.”
