Turin, 13 February (LaPresse) – ‘As artistic directors, we have complete freedom, no one interferes. If I have made mistakes or will make mistakes, it is solely my fault. No one has the right to say who should or should not be chosen. Neither this government nor previous ones have done so. We work independently.’ These were the words of Carlo Conti, artistic director of the Sanremo Festival, speaking on Rtl 102.5 during the programme “Giletti 102.5”. ‘Pucci was honoured at the Arena di Verona for the theatre’s box office takings, he has been on several programmes and nothing has ever happened. Perhaps I was wrong, with the Festival you are immediately pulled up on things,’ he added on the Pucci case. “The photo presented by the comedian to announce his participation in the Festival? A prank. I hope we will only talk about music when Sanremo begins, so that we can enjoy those evenings with a light heart,” he concluded.
Sanremo, Conti: ‘Government interference? No, we have complete freedom.’
