Vienna (Austria), May 17 (LaPresse) – Bulgaria pulled off a surprise victory at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest thanks to Dara and her song “Bangaranga,” which won over both the expert juries and the public vote, defying pre-contest predictions. On stage at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, the Bulgarian singer gave her country its first historic victory in the European competition. Israel came in second place, amid protests including a pro-Palestine march that brought about 3,000 people into the streets of the Austrian capital. Romania, meanwhile, finished in third place. Italy came in fifth with Sal Da Vinci, whose performance was well-received by the audience.
