Venice 83: Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement awarded to George Clooney

Rome, 6 July (LaPresse) – George Clooney, the American actor, director and producer (Jay Kelly, Syriana, Good Night and Good Luck), has been awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, scheduled to take place from 2 to 12 September 2026. The decision was taken by the Biennale’s Board of Directors, which endorsed the proposal put forward by the Festival’s Artistic Director, Alberto Barbera. Upon accepting the award, George Clooney said: “I have experienced so many extraordinary moments in Venice. The Festival is without doubt my favourite, and receiving the Golden Lion is an immense honour. It probably also means I’m getting on a bit, but that’s fine.”
