Turin, 13 July (LaPresse) – “Today, the daily newspaper La Verità, in an editorial by its editor-in-chief Maurizio Belpietro and an article by Carlo Cambi, claims that a Report investigation into the supply of personal protective equipment during the Covid pandemic was censored by me and removed from the Raiplay website. Given that Report has no authority over Raiplay, which has an autonomous structure and management, these allegations are false.” This is what journalist Sigfrido Ranucci wrote in a post on Facebook. “The episode in question, entitled ‘La commessa cinese’, broadcast on 11 January 2021, is available on our website as a full transcript,” explains Mr Ranucci, adding that “the video is not included there simply because it contained footage shot in China, the rights to which expire after five years, in accordance with the contract signed with the company that provided us with this footage. Other investigations, such as ‘Mascheropoli’ and ‘Affari di Covid’, which scrutinised the decisions of key figures in the government at the time, are still available on our website,” he concludes. “Furthermore, it seems strange that ‘Report’ should have censored the excellent investigations carried out by Rosa Maria Aquino, which, as can easily be verified, are already included in the files of the Covid inquiry commission. And this is a commission to which the ‘Report’ team – unlike many others who had retreated behind the scenes during the pandemic – made a major contribution, at the risk of their own health and that of their loved ones.”
