Milan, 14 July (LaPresse) – The Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 83rd Venice Film Festival has been awarded to the American actress Ellen Burstyn (The Exorcist, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Interstellar). Venice Biennale International Film Festival (2–12 September 2026). The Biennale announced this in a statement. The decision was taken by the Biennale’s Board of Directors, which endorsed the proposal put forward by the Festival’s Artistic Director, Alberto Barbera. Upon accepting the award, Ellen Burstyn said: “Wow! Not only do I get the chance to visit one of my absolute favourite cities in the whole world… but I’ll be returning home with a Golden Lion in my arms! The Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Film Festival! I feel so honoured – so happy – so full of gratitude! Truly wow!”
