San Diego (USA), 26 July (LaPresse/AP) – Ryan Gosling is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as ‘Ghost Rider’, reuniting with ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ director Shawn Levy for a film scheduled for release in 2028. Gosling met with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige on Saturday in Hall H at Comic-Con International, where he was greeted by around 7,000 jubilant fans. Many were wearing Doctor Doom masks distributed by the studio. Gosling’s wife, Eva Mendes, starred alongside Nicolas Cage in the original ‘Ghost Rider’ film, released in 2007 – a year before ‘Iron Man’, which launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A sequel was released by Sony in 2012 and the film rights subsequently reverted to Marvel, but the character has yet to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
