(LaPresse) – Bengali actress Azmeri Haque Badhon, who had arrived in Italy to present the film ‘The Difficult Bride’ at the Venice Film Festival, reported on her social media accounts that she had been attacked by a group of fellow countrymen on Monday evening. The actress, visibly shaken, posted a series of videos on Facebook showing the attack whilst she was with her brother and his family. According to the actress, who has always been at the forefront of the fight for women’s rights, the attack is believed to be linked to the support she expressed for the student protests in Bangladesh two years ago, which subsequently led to the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
