(LaPresse) – Javier Bardem is to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award during the 21st edition of the Rome Film Festival, which will take place from 13 to 25 October 2026 at the ‘Ennio Morricone’ Auditorium Parco della Musica. The announcement was made by the president of the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, Salvatore Nastasi, following a proposal by the artistic director, Paola Malanga. The Spanish actor, one of the world’s leading performers and an Oscar winner for Joel and Ethan Coen’s ‘No Country for Old Men’, who has starred in films by Woody Allen, Sam Mendes, Denis Villeneuve, Julian Schnabel, Aaron Sorkin and Alejandro Amenábar, amongst others, will introduce the screening of Rodrigo Sorogoyen’s ‘El ser querido’ to the audience. The film, one of the most acclaimed at the last Cannes Film Festival and scheduled to screen at the Festival in the ‘Best of 2026’ section, features Javier Bardem in the role of Esteban Martínez, a legendary director with a past marked by violence and excess. The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented by a leading figure in Italian and international cinema, the Oscar-winning director Paolo Sorrentino.
